Excursion to the NS-Dok in cologne

On Saturday, August 30, we will go on an excursion to the NS Documentation Center in Cologne. There we will take a guided tour of the “Gestapo Prison” memorial and the permanent exhibition “Cologne under National Socialism.” We will cover the admission and tour costs for students. Please register briefly via Instagram DM @polbil_bonn or email polbil@asta.uni-bonn.de so we can plan accordingly!

To travel together, we will meet at 11:50 a.m. on platform 1 at Bonn Central Station to take the next RE 5 train. We will start in Cologne at 1:00 p.m. After the 90-minute tour, we will meet in the accompanying Erzählcafé for a debriefing among ourselves.

The NS-Dok is located in the center of Cologne, not far from the main train station, in the EL-DE-Haus, from where the Secret State Police monitored the city from 1935 to 1945. In the house prison, over 1,800 inscriptions bear witness to Nazi torture and the murder of prisoners there and are now open to the public. The permanent exhibition “Cologne under National Socialism” also documents the history of Cologne from the 1920s to the end of the war in 1945.

Out of historical responsibility and a critical awareness of the continuing influence of Nazi ideology, the NS-Dok also addresses contemporary manifestations of the extreme right as well as social power structures such as racism, anti-Semitism, and other forms of discrimination.
