AStA Chair

The Presidency is responsible for the work of the AStA and coordinates the priorities and cooperation of the fifteen AStA departments. The Presidency represents the student body of the University of Bonn towards the University, the Studierendenwerk Bonn, the public and the press and in local and state politics.

Finance Department and Accounting

IT Department

Both students and AStA staff depend on a reliably functioning IT infrastructure. We try to achieve this goal through our work in the IT department. We are the contact persons in the AStA when it comes to new computers, software installations, the homepage and the like. We act as a link between the departments, the chair and the admins. Furthermore, we work on the digital policies of the AStA.

Department of Public Relations

Welcome to the website of the Public Relations Department of the AStA of the University of Bonn! As the Department for Public Relations, we represent the AStA of the University of Bonn to the outside world. We see ourselves as a link between the AStA and the students. We manage the AStA's social media channels and provide you with all the important information about the AStA and university politics. We offer free flyer advice for student cultural groups (for more information, see 'Flyer advice').

Department for University Policy

As “HoPo”, we network the AStA within the university, as well as regionally and nationally with other university policy committees and student bodies throughout Germany, in particular within the North Rhine-Westphalia Student Union (LAT NRW) and the Free Association of Student Unions (fzs e.V.). We also deal with various local political issues, organize discussion and information events and work for you at the festival contre le racisme.

Department of Ecology

The Department of Ecology is an offer of the AStA to deal with the topics of sustainability, consumption and environmental protection. We address aspects such as conscious nutrition and fair trade, environmentally friendly mobility, recycling, waste avoidance and energy consumption in the following lectures, workshops and campaigns.

Department of political Education

We would like to try to participate in the political education of students and are working on a critical politicization of the student body. To this end, we organize lectures, seminars and film screenings, which are generally accessible free of charge.

Department of Social Welfare

If you have any questions or problems relating to everyday student life, you can contact the Social Welfare Department. The Social Welfare Department offers various counseling services that can help you with a wide range of issues.

Department of Faculty Student Councils

Our job is the coordination of the student councils and representatives of the university's various departments. In order to make their work more effective, we support them with their elections, welcome events, communications, public statements, and more. Additionally, we are making sure that each council receives its allocated student fees and is heard when necessary.

Department for FLINTA* and Equality

As an independent student body/ AStA department representing FLINTA* (women/female, lesbian, inter*, non-binary, trans*, agender) students of the University Bonn we confront sexism, discrimination regarding gender and sexual violence intersectionally.

Department for International Students

We inform and advise international students and accompany you through all aspects of your new life in Bonn! Our multilingual team consists mostly of international students who were faced with similar problems as you at the beginning of their stay in Germany. We offer support in finding solutions for social, legal, cultural and political problems.

Queer-Department

We are the representation of all queer students in the AStA of the University of Bonn towards the student self-administration, the university management and the lecturers. We see ourselves as responsible for all people who are marginalized because of their sexual, romantic and/or gender identity: lesbian, bi- and pansexual, gay, asexual and aromantic people, trans*, non-binary and genderqueer people, inter* people and all others whose label (or preference not to use one) is not shown here.

Athletics Department

The Sports Department manages the portion of your social contribution earmarked for sports autonomously and politically independently. It cooperates closely with the University Sports Department and the Head of University Sports, Dr. Peter Preuss, in designing the range of sports on offer.

CIMND* Department against ableism

The autonomous CIMND* Department of AStA Bonn represents all students affected by Ableism. We want to provide a platform where those affected by ableism can exchange, network and support each other. We are also committed to breaking down barriers and promoting inclusion at our university.
