AStA Presidency

The Presidency is responsible for the work of the AStA and coordinates the priorities and cooperation of the fifteen AStA departments. The Presidency represents the student body of the University of Bonn towards the University, the Studierendenwerk Bonn, the public and the press and in local and state politics.

In order to fulfil these tasks, the AStA Presidency sits on the University Senate, the highest internal decision-making body, in an advisory capacity. We meet regularly with the Rectorate, the management of the Studierendenwerk Bonn and other important decision-makers in order to be informed about developments at the university and to help shape them from the perspective of the student body.

We deal with enquiries that come to us from outside, organise a bi-weekly meeting of representatives from all AStA departments and report on the work of the AStA to the student parliament, the supreme body of the constituted student body. The Chair is also responsible for the project centres Bicycle Workshop and Mobility (Studiticket).

We advocate that the university makes decisions in dialogue between teachers, students and university staff and ensure that the student body confidently uses its voice in this process.

We are in favour of a comprehensive university with a diverse range of topics and subjects, which understands teaching and research as a unit, puts content before economic interests and constraints and faces up to problems and the shaping of the future in an academic, i.e. differentiated and open discourse.

As students, you are always welcome to get actively involved, draw our attention to grievances and make suggestions for shaping our work and the university.
