Financial Start-Up Assistance for First-Year Students

If you’re a first-year student, are facing financial hardship, and can’t afford your semester tuition, this financial start-up assistance will help you get out of a tight spot.

The First-Semester Start-Up Assistance relieves your financial burden by temporarily covering the semester fee for your first enrollment at the University of Bonn. Repayment is made in installments of 30 EUR on the 15th day of each month, beginning in the third month of the respective semester.

Any eligible applicant is entitled to receive the benefit, who, after deducting rent obligations of up to 450 EUR and health insurance costs of up to an additional 120 EUR, has less than 40 percent of the maximum BAföG rate remaining on a long-term basis (longer than 3 months) to cover monthly living expenses.

Please include the following information with your application:

• A copy of your ID card/passport/etc.
• Your enrollment certificate/admission letter
• All bank statements from the last three months (with no gaps)
• Your home address and semester address
• Account details for the account from which the repayment is to be made (name, address of the account holder, IBAN, BIC)
