Bike Workshop

About Us

Cycling is environmentally friendly, practical, and healthy – no wonder many students in Bonn get around by bike. It's all the more annoying when it breaks down. So that you don't have to wait for days for a bike shop to take care of your bicycle and don't spend unnecessary money on repairs, you can now start fixing it yourself at the AStA self-help workshop – free of charge and with expert support from Bart, Kaan, and Golo. You only need to pay for the necessary spare parts.

How is our Workshop Funded?

The workshop is funded by AStA funds and the University of Bonn. One employee (project position), consumables, tools, furniture, and most of the fixed costs are covered by AStA. The university provides the other two employees, the premises, and the resulting fixed costs.

Warum ändern sich unsere Öffungszeiten immer wieder?

We are also students at the University of Bonn. Just like you, our lecture schedules change every semester. Our building regulations allow us to operate the workshop between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM, but we cannot cover all hours of the week. Therefore, we try to staff the peak times from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM as much as our own lecture schedules allow and aim to open at least one day a week at 11:00 AM and stay open until 7:00 PM.

Whenever possible, we change our opening hours two weeks after the beginning of lecture and non-lecture periods. However, during non-lecture periods, there are more frequent closures because we also want to take vacations.

We look forward to your visit!
